Why Prophecy Watch?
Prophecy Watch was driven by a desire to share the transformative power of the gift of prophecy—a gift I felt deprived of for too long. I wish to encourage the body of Christ to embrace prophecy to help strengthen, correct, and guide the church in response to an all-knowing God who is fulfilling things every day that are otherwise impossible to predict. As Paul wrote to the Corinthians:
Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
1 Corinthians 14:1 NASB
But, there’s a problem. As the Bible warned, many are claiming to be speaking for God who are not, or at minimum have not been consistently accurate. Critics of the prophetic gifts are quick to point at these failed prophecies from popular prophets, leading to a lot of confusion. With so many voices, it can get tricky for Christians to figure out who’s really speaking from the Holy Spirit and who’s not. This confusion makes the whole idea of modern prophecy seem hard to swallow for most Christians.
For the gift of prophecy to be taken seriously and benefit all of Christianity, there needs to be accountability and that simply isn’t happening right now. This confusion is fueling the arguments against spiritual gifts, and slows the progress of building His Kingdom.
Prophecy Watch helps clear up the confusion by using automation (and eventually some AI) to sort through a massive amount of prophetic content. We will analyze what people are saying God told them, so we can track what checks out and comes to pass, developing a scorecard to monitor their track record.
Not everyone who says they’ve got a message from the Lord actually does. Some popular voices are leading us away from God’s truth, not closer to it. Other prophets may be unpopular or have weak presentation skills, but have a remarkably accurate track record with important messages that God wants His church to hear.
At Prophecy Watch, we offer tools to help track many who claim to be hearing from God. It’s like being a good fruit inspector; we want to help you see which fruits are good and which ones are not. Keep in mind that these are just technical tools, intended as a starting point and not to be definitive or on par with specific discernment from God.
